Die unter dem Motto Neue Musik Salon Ruhr veranstalteten Konzerte bespielen verschiedenste kleinere Räume des Ruhrgebiets (Wohnzimmer, Ateliers, Galerien...). Die zumeist kurzen, von Musikern moderierten Konzerte bieten so nicht nur einen ungewohnt direkten Blick auf die Aktivitäten des Musikers sondern auch eine Plattform, um ein breiteres Publikum für Neue Musik zu interessieren. Diese von der GNMR organisierten Konzerte geben dem Publikum die Möglichkeit – über das Hören der Musik hinaus – mit Komponisten und Interpreten ins Gespräch zu kommen,  Einblicke in die Kontexte und Konzepte sowie Denk- und Arbeitsweisen zu bekommen und sich mit den Akteuren direkt über das Gehörte auszutauschen.

Diese Veranstaltungen sollen in ihrer Art an den Salongedanken der letzten Jahrhunderte anknüpfen und im Idealfall zum improvisierten Kunstwerk der Geselligkeit werden.
